A pile jacket is a multifunctional garment that works equally well out on a hike as a warming mid-layer, or as a cozy jacket in the spring, or as a cozy and lovely sweater to wear on the couch. But how should you think when buying your pile jacket, how do you know which one to choose? You can rest assured in this guide you will find all the answers!

When buying your pile jacket it is important to consider one thing.

1. What will I use my pile jacket for? What are my needs?

Once you’ve worked out what you’re going to use your pile jacket for, the other steps will be that much easier. If you want to wear it as a mid-layer, a slim fit or a vest might be more appropriate, if you want to wear it as a jacket, you might want to choose one of our lined pile jackets.

Fit

At Norrsken, we try to create all of our garments with true to size in mind. This means that you should always be able to choose your usual size. However, size and fit is always very individual and based on how you want your clothes to fit.

Hunnebo

Our Hunnebo jacket has a full zip and is a little more slim in design. Therefore, this jacket is particularly suitable if you want to use it as a mid-layer under a jacket. The Hunnebo is also lined with a nice soft cotton fabric, which makes it great to wear as a standalone jacket.

Inviken

Our classic Inviken jacket is a pile jacket in a half-zip model. The Inviken is not lined, which means it can feel slightly cooler than our other pile jackets, which can be nice if you want to use it as a mid-layer or as a jacket when it’s a bit warmer outside. The Invik is a normal size, but many people like to go up a size anyway for a more oversized fit.

Styrsö

Like the Inviken, the Styrsö is a pile jacket in a half-zip model. However, Styrsö has a soft and comfortable cotton lining that can make the jacket feel slightly warmer. Therefore, it is perfect to use as a stand-alone jacket or fleece, but can of course be used as a mid-layer. Styrsö is a regular size, but as with the Inviken, many people like to go up a size for a more oversized fit.

Knippla

Our fantastic pile vest Knippla is a wonderful full-zip vest with a soft cotton lining that keeps you warm and comfortable. We love using the Knippla just as it is or as a warming mid-layer under one of our jackets. The Knippla has a straight fit and we recommend taking your usual size.

Kids

Hunnebo and Inviken are also available for kids in sizes 98-146. They are the perfect all-round hoodie that can be worn on its own as a jacket on the warmer days or as a warm mid-layer on the cooler days. Hunnebo JR is a full-zip model and Inviken JR is a half-zip model, both jackets have a normal fit and therefore you should be able to choose your child’s usual size. Our children’s pile jackets are designed for outdoor activities and play, but are also perfect for snuggling up in at home.

Washing instructions

We recommend washing our pile jackets as infrequently as possible, as it causes the least wear to the garment. Instead, it’s a good idea to hang the pile jacket out to dry if you want a quick freshen up. Once the pile jacket is to be washed, it’s a good idea to remember to wash it at 30 degrees with similar colours to keep it looking as good as possible.

The fit you want and the colours you like are completely individual, so we think the most important thing to consider when buying your pile jacket is that you love it. Therefore, choose your pile jacket according to your needs and preferences, as it is you who will be wearing the pile jacket for what we hope will be many years to come!
