Everything you need to know when buying your JACKET
What is the difference between a winter and fall jacket, when should it be waterproof and what material should I choose? Buying a jacket is not an easy task and usually leads to a lot of questions. That's why we've created this guide where we go through the most common questions and explain how to find your perfect jacket!
Things to consider
At Norrsken we offer a variety of women's jackets. Fall jackets, winter jackets, spring jackets, down jackets, outdoor jackets, rain jackets, ski jackets and parkas. What you need to consider when buying your jacket are two things:
No 1, What will I use this jacket for, what are my needs?
No 2, How do I want my jacket to fit?
Down jacket
If you're looking for a jacket to keep you warm all winter, we recommend our fantastic down jackets. Down provides by far the best warmth and is the perfect material for those who are a little extra cold or are going to stay in the cold. Our down jackets come in different models, as parkas and as puffer jackets. All our down jackets are made of RDS down, RDS aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to unnecessary harm. This means that the down used in our garments is a by-product of the food industry and is purchased from approved suppliers..
Watertightness
If you need a jacket to withstand the Scandinavian fall and winter where a lot of rain occurs, you may want to consider choosing a jacket with as high a water column as possible. We offer jackets with everything from 5,000 to 10,000 water columns, the higher the number the more waterproof the garment is. To make it as easy as possible for you, we have a water indicator on all our water repellent and waterproof garments that shows approximately how waterproof a garment is. If you instead want a jacket that can withstand a little drizzle to and from work, then it is enough to choose one that is only water-repellent.
A jacket without a water column is often perceived as more flexible and a bit softer than a jacket with a water column, so it can be nice to choose such a jacket if you are not going to be in the rain.
Thinner jacket
If you are looking for a slightly thinner jacket, we recommend choosing one of our jackets in the materials polyester and cotton. Polyester is a slightly thinner and cooler fabric that fits perfectly in the fall with a slightly warmer mid-layer or in the spring just as it is.
Seasonal
In our menu, for the sake of simplicity, we have divided our jackets into different categories based on season and purpose to simplify your purchase. Here we have chosen to collect the jackets we think are a little extra good for, for example, spring or winter, so that you do not have to look. But as always, it is you who chooses when and where you want to use your jacket so look around the different categories and make sure you find your perfect jacket.
fit
We strive for our jackets to always be "true to size", this means that you should always be able to choose your usual size. However, it is always important to think about the purpose for which you buy the jacket, are you buying the jacket to wear it under other jackets? Or do you want it a little extra large to fit an extra sweater and be able to move more freely? Therefore, if you are considering between two sizes, we always recommend that you choose the larger one.
Washing advice
To protect your jacket in the best possible way, we recommend washing it as little as possible, as washing it too often puts a lot of wear and tear on the jacket. We therefore recommend that you instead spot treat the jacket with a wet cloth if it has any visible stains. Hanging the jacket out to air is an effective way to freshen it up.
Your choice
The most important thing when it comes to buying your perfect jacket is that you're happy, because after all, you'll be wearing it every day! Therefore, you should always choose a jacket based on your needs and fit. Think about what you like and think is stylish and then make your decision from there!
